August report

Fishing outside the gate has been fantastic for lings and Rock Cod.  Weather has been great, I think I have seen one person a bit queazy out of all our trips …

Salmon are still here and  on a feeding frenzy  before heading for the rivers.  Action should hold steady threw September and October so call early for the best dates.

Good weather

Weather and tides have been great for Sturgeon and for Striped Bass The last couple of trips have brought action and challenge for the anglers using barbless hooks. Pump House seems to be the hot spot. Putting sturgeon and bass over the rail and some lucky ones making the right splash and turn back where they came from. Nice quality fish. All in beautiful weather looks like this weekend is going to be another great time to get your lines in the water.

2013 Sturgeon Regulations

New Sturgeon Regulations Effective Jan 1st 2013

To protect threatened green sturgeon while allowing sturgeon fishing to continue in California waters, the Department of Fish and Game has new regulations for sturgeon anglers effective Jan. 1st 2013.  Please note the following changes:

  1. Size Limit – Anglers may take or possess any legally caught white sturgeon between 40 and 60 inches.  The fish must be measured from the nose tot he tail fork (California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 5.80 and 27.90)
  2. Methods of take – Only one single barbless hook may be used on the line when taking sturgeon.  Use of a snare to assist in landing or killing any sturgeon is prohibited...
